Introducing Testament Tees and a chat with the CEO of Testament Tees! (@MissToseen)

(Q). A quick one, can you tell us about yourself?

I am Oluwatosin Adeniyi, I’m 17 years old for a few more months… I like to think of myself as a playful person, so I’m always having fun with my Jesus… On occasion, I like to describe myself as a ‘Jack of many Arts’ (that’s actually going up in my Instagram bio soon)… I am into painting, graphic design, photography, writing, acting and some other stuff but this is about Testament Tees so I’m just going to cool it here… But yeah, I’m an artist… My dislikes… hmm… I don’t like cats or animals in general if that counts… I don’t know… I’m really all positive vibes these days… And yeah I’m having fun with my new life in Christ generally, so, yeah, I don’t do anything in particular for fun.

(Q). Ever thought t shirts was one of the things you’ll do or it just came?

Well, some years ago I never thought I’d be doing this… Like, T-shirts weren’t something I was actually dreaming about… at least not in the business sense. But I was at one Holy Ghost Service at Redemption Camp last year, and it just came to me.

(Q). Why Testament Tees?

To be honest, I struggled with the name ‘Testament’ for a while before accepting it. I didn’t exactly choose the name… It came to me as part of the package when the Holy Spirit gave me the idea to do this. Funny how, right now, I don’t think any other name would have been suitable for this brand! #TestamentNation #WeMove LOL! For me generally, this brand is about Spreading the Gospel which is why the products are affordable, so a wide range of people can afford it… I want people to read the captions and stop to think for a moment… For now, I’m really trying to challenge myself to improve so that the tees appeal to more people and the purpose is met. In a nutshell, why? Jesus.

(Q). Projects you’ve done/upcoming projects or plans

Wow, wow, wow… Well let me just let you in on this… A new collection of tees will be out VERY VERY soon… And trust me on this… this collection shall be different… I’d leave it at that… Just anticipate, LOL! We’ve done two collections prior to this… We exhibited at Ignite 2015 which actually was our first proper exhibition and it was wonderful.

(Q). What are the responses you’ve gotten – positive and negative towards Testament Tees?

Well, basically I feel you should always hear the best in what everyone says… There have been many words of encouragement from friends and family… You know, people come up to and they’re like nice idea, cool stuff and all that… But there have also been criticisms which I consider constructive anyway, people saying oh, this could look better… you could have done it that way… I wouldn’t say anyone has been particularly derogatory of my brand thus far…

(Q). What’s your take on the Christianity community not coming out or the average Christian not using his/her talents for God?

I think that, a lot of people don’t even know how to use their talents for God. Especially people that don’t sing or act. It’s like, what do I do, you know? with people on stage it’s more straight forward… but for the writers, visual artists etc it’s a different ball game… But then, I believe that we need to be led by the Holy Spirit in all that we do… If we listen close enough to God, we would hear what He intends for us at every given time. Also, just use your whole self for God… submit totally… no how, your talents would come in handy in your service to God.

(Q). Best moments of Testament Tees?

Well, the photo shoots are always a lot of fun… We have had three so far. Our shoots are always really chill, cause the atmosphere is always playful.. As I said, I’m a playful person myself… Anyway, my best shoot so far, based on the experience would be the second one… It was a pool side shoot and It was great. Oh yeah, the last one we did was also such an experience… It was a street shoot… It was definitely not in my comfort zone but I enjoyed it a lot! We had mallams come up to us to take pictures of them too… People pausing to stare… Little kids photo bombing… It was something… You can actually catch the Behind the scenes gist on our Twitter feed: @testament_tees…

(Q). Where do you see Testament Tees in the next 10years?

This is a tad difficult to answer, because in all honesty, I do not know. I believe that at some point when the right time comes, I will re brand… But I really want to try a whole lot of new stuff with the brand… So yeah, when you think of Testament Tees in the next 10 years, just think NEW cos that’s what I’m going for.

(Q). Do you think there’s shame/no reception towards doing Gospels (if yes/no, then why?) (*). If yes, How can we overcome that shame and come out boldly no matter the reception we get?

DEFINITELY!!! I mean, Jesus even said it that we would be persecuted for being his followers. It’s not easy to be honest, there’s no easy way out… But I’d say this, at all times, remember whose side you’re on and instead of trying to impress the world, Try to impress GodThings of God and things of the world are opposite, remember, there is NO in between… stop trying to fit in!!

(Q). Any side attractions?

Well, as I said earlier I’m into art and well I’m starting classes at University of Toronto soon… so that about sums it up, although, I wouldn’t really call school a side attraction. LOL!

(Q). Favorite Gospel artiste (male/female),  Why?

Hmm… I listen to a lot of Gospel music, so I tend to like a particular artiste at a particular time… but I think Tasha Cobbs has been my most consistent fave! With her, it’s not just talent… you can really feel the anointing and I enjoy scoring her songs.

(Q). Favorite Gospel blog (s) and why?

I don’t really read blogs to be honest… but I like somtoudeke.com because I can really relate to her posts… I think the JammieSpeaks Blog is really coming up too, I feel with time and reliance on the Holy Spirit, this blog can go far in terms of Bringing out the Gospel I love that Jammie tries to mix things up from time to time.

(Q). Drop your personal social accts ( Fb, Twitter and Instagram), Which is your fav?

I’m not active on Facebook but my name on there is Tosin Adeniyi.. Instagram, Twitter and Snap chat— @misstoseen… I don’t have a favorite per say… but I’m most active on Twitter.
But more importantly, please follow the brand on Twitter and Instagram @testament_tees and check out the Facebook page Testament Shirts…

(Q). What’s the bold step you took that brought forth Testament Tees?

I would say that the bringing forth of Testament T-shirts was all God, I was just a tool… But the boldest step I had to take BY FAR was DEFINITELY… Taking a huge chunk out of my savings account to start the business. I would also say having to rely on God to actually direct the business, I’m still working on this part of it though… I want Him to really have full control over it all.

(Q). Your advice for your fellow Christians in taking that bold step towards what they want to do but not sure?

The best gift we’ve been given is the Holy Spirit, so, we never even have to lean on our own understanding… It might seem difficult but if you just submit to the Holy Spirit and let him reveal stuff to you.. that ‘bold’ step would seem much much easier…
